Quick Peer Check-Ins

The Quick Peer Check-Ins tool is a structured, trauma-informed reflection guide designed to help coaches decompress, process emotional load, and strengthen their practitioner voice through brief peer support conversations. Family-Centered Coaching work often involves navigating participant fear, shame, financial stress, and complex systems; without intentional processing, that weight can accumulate. This 15-minute (or 5-minute) check-in format provides simple prompts to identify triggers, name emotions, surface underlying beliefs, reconnect to values, transform limiting narratives, anchor a micro-action, and close with appreciation—supporting resilience and reducing burnout.

How to Use This Tool: Use this structure when regular supervision or longer peer meetings aren’t possible. Partner with a colleague and move step-by-step through the prompts, allowing 1–2 minutes per section. One person shares while the other listens reflectively, then switch roles. In shorter moments, use the 5-minute version by completing the sentence prompts and offering a reflective response. Focus on naming what feels heavy, identifying the belief underneath it, and reframing toward strength and possibility. Close by identifying one small action for the next 7–30 days and offering an appreciation statement. This tool is designed to build connection, normalize emotional load, and sustain practitioners in high-impact work.
