The Young Adult Ecosystem tool is a visual, strengths-based mapping guide designed to help young adults identify key areas of support that influence stability and long-term mobility. Recognizing that progress is rarely linear, this tool highlights interconnected domains—including Academics, Career/Work Problem Solving, Emotional Support, Transportation, Financial Decision Making, and Benefits Navigation—so participants can see their full ecosystem rather than focusing on one challenge in isolation. By centering the question, “In what area do I need more support?” the tool reinforces agency, reduces shame, and helps young adults understand that asking for support is a strategic step toward independence—not a setback.
How to Use This Tool: Use this visual map at the beginning of a coaching relationship or during transition moments to assess current strengths and gaps. Invite the participant to reflect on each domain and identify where they feel steady and where they need additional support. Document specific resources, connections, or next steps within the relevant sections. Prioritize one or two focus areas at a time to avoid overwhelm, and revisit the map periodically as circumstances shift. This tool is designed to promote holistic planning, cross-system awareness, and participant-led goal setting within a supportive coaching partnership.
